Ainslie McDougall, PhD

Dr. Ainslie McDougall is a registered psychologist with the Nova Scotia Board of Examiners in Psychology specializing in clinical and forensic psychology. She completed her MA/PhD in Clinical Psychology in 2014 at the University of New Brunswick (Fredericton, New Brunswick). She previously completed a Master of Science in Forensic Psychology in 2008 at the University of Surrey (Guildford, United Kingdom) and a Bachelor of Arts honours in psychology in 2005 from Saint Mary’s University (Halifax, NS).

Dr. McDougall specializes in mental health and psycho-educational assessments of youth and adults with varying presentations. She also has experience in providing evidence-based interventions (e.g., Cognitive-Behaviour Therapy) for children, adolescents, and adults with anxiety and/or mood disorders. Given her training as a scientist-practitioner, Dr. McDougall strives to provide an individualized, client-centered approach during assessments and interventions while continuing to emphasize the importance of using practices that are supported by research.

In addition to private practice, Dr. McDougall is employed with the IWK Health Centre Mental Health and Addictions Program in Halifax, Nova Scotia.
